Cannon Roofing completed a full roof tear-off and replacement for the Milliken Fine Arts Building on the campus of Converse University in Spartanburg, SC. As a recognizable local institution with an active campus environment, Converse required a roofing partner capable of delivering high-quality work while coordinating carefully around school operations, student activity, and the unique logistics of a university setting.
The existing roof had reached the end of its service life and needed to be fully removed and replaced to better protect the academic building beneath it. Cannon Roofing installed an adhered flat Johns Manville TPO roofing system, along with metal replacement and drain replacement to support the long-term performance of the new system.
One of the biggest challenges of the project was working on an active campus. Careful planning, expedited work during the school's break, efficient coordination, and experienced project management were essential to keeping the project on schedule. Crews worked around the realities of a university setting, coordinating access, materials, equipment, and workflow with respect for the surrounding campus and its ongoing activity.
What made this project especially unique was its setting. Located on Converse University’s campus in the heart of Spartanburg, the Milliken Fine Arts Building sits within a highly visible and well-maintained academic environment. The surrounding landscaping, architecture, and campus setting made it important for the roofing work to be completed with both precision and professionalism.
The completed roofing system will provide improved durability and protection, helping preserve an important campus facility for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. By replacing the end-of-life roof with a high-performance TPO system, Cannon Roofing contributed to the ongoing care and quality of Converse University’s campus infrastructure.
